VERY IMPORTANT NOTE TO CANDIDATES

All applicants require TWO references to support their application, as follows:

(1) A reference from your proposed research supervisor.

(2) A reference from a professor, lecturer, tutor, research advisor or other senior figure in the research domain covered by your application.

Applicants who are transferring from undergraduate level need to supply an additional reference from a professor, lecturer, tutor, research advisor or other senior figure in the research domain covered by their application.

The reference process is accessed through the Online Applications System above. It is the absolute responsibility of applicants to ensure that their referees are aware of the requirement to complete and submit the reference forms online.

Referees do not need to register with the system until prompted to do so by an automated email from IRCSET.

Applicants must ensure they have entered the email address of their proposed supervisor and referee(s) correctly. Applicants must ensure the supervisors and referee(s) submit to IRCSET by the reference deadline of 5pm Wednesday 27th August, 2008.

Applications will be deemed incomplete and will not be assessed if a supervisor of referee does not complete their reference before the 'reference deadline'.

It is not necessary for any reference to be sent in hard copy to IRCSET.

IRCSET wishes to thank all applicants for their assistance in meeting these requirements.

Applications are subject to equal assessment, strictly on merit, by an independent academic panel.

Enterprise Partnership Scheme

Within this call, a number of Enterprise Partnership Awards are also being offered in conjunction with participating industry partners. The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology gratefully acknowledges the valuable participation of these organisations.

If you wish to be considered in this regard then you need to click the relevant marker in the online applications system.

The Enterprise Partnership Scheme allows scholars to be co-funded by both IRCSET and an Enterprise Partner. The co-funding has enabled IRCSET to support many more young researchers in Irish research bodies and gives applicants to the Embark Scholarship calls a second chance for funding.

The researcher receives the same financial support as a postgraduate scholar under the normal Embark Initiative Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme. However, they also receive additional supervision and gain experience of research in an industrial environment.

Our list of partners and projects is updated periodically. For up to date details, please link here.

The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology wishes to thank all candidates for their interest in this programme.
