MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP (MIS) FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES IN MALAYSIA

Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS) is a Premier Scholarship for international students to pursue their higher education in Malaysian universities. Funded by the Malaysian Government under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), it is administered by the Ministry of Higher Education. The awards were initiated to provide young students of excellent academic records and outstanding co-curriculum background the opportunity to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree at selected and well established Malaysian public and private universities. The scholarship is a part the Malaysian Goverment’s objective in the encouragement and enhancement of closer bilateral relations between Malaysia and the participating countries. The Malaysian Government offers up to 15 MIS Scholarships each year.


ELIGIBILTY

Be citizens of the MTCP participating countries;
Have an impressive record of participation and leadership in extra -curricular or social and voluntary activities;
Have completed minimum of 12 years of successful study with good outstanding grades;
Be in good health and be certified fit medically by a certified Doctor/Medical Professional of the bilateral partner country. The cost of medical examination is to be borne by the applicants;
Not more than 21 years of age; and
Form must be endorsed by the agency responsible for technical cooperation in the respective country.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

A minimum of 3 GCE ‘A’ Levels with all subjects Grade B; or
Other internationally recognized qualifications of a similar standard.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
If deemed necessary, applicants may also be required to attend an interview and/or take an entrance test conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education or the Board of Admissions of the particular university.

Field of studies are in the following priority areas :

Business and Finance
Science and Engineering
Agricultural Science
Linguistics/Social sciences
(Note : Applicants may choose any related courses within the fields/areas mentioned above.)

* Other areas of interest may be considered depending on the availability of the places offered by the universities.

THE AWARDS
Scholarship are awarded for three (3) to four years(4) of full-time undergraduate degree. The scholarship funding covers tuition fees, monthly maintenance allowance, book allowance and accommodation allowance.

Approved tuition and compulsory university fees will be paid directly to the respective University.
A return economy class air ticket from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia once at the beginning and once at the end of the course
Maintenance allowance of MYR 1000 per month.
An annual book allowance of MYR 1 200 per year.
Settlement allowance of MYR 1000 payable once at the beginning of the course.
Termination grant or RM 1000 payable once at the end of the course.
Practical training allowance of RM16.00 per day will be paid to students who are required to do
Practical training at a range of 25 km from the University.
Traveling allowance of MYR 300 per annum
Thesis allowance of MYR 246 (if required) once throughout the course;
Health and Accident Insurance will be provided by the Malaysian Government
